Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Leh

  • Touch down at Leh airport, greeted by fresh mountain air and awe-inspiring views of snow-clad peaks.
  • Situated over 3,500 meters above sea level, Leh is only accessible by air in winter, making altitude acclimatization crucial.
  • Complete your arrival formalities and take a taxi to your reserved hotel for a pleasant overnight stay.
  • Settle in and unwind, ensuring you’re refreshed and ready for the thrilling trek ahead.

Day 02: Acclimatization Walk in Leh

  • Begin your day with a nutritious breakfast to fuel up for a relaxed exploration of Leh.
  • Take a gentle walk around Leh to acclimate to the high altitude and familiarize yourself with the surroundings.
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day to support your body’s adjustment to the altitude.
  • Enjoy a leisurely day exploring Leh, ensuring you’re well-prepared for the Chadar Trek.
  • Conclude with a comfortable overnight stay to recharge for the adventures ahead.

Day 03: Health Check and Preparation Day in Leh

  • Start your day with a hearty breakfast to energize for the activities ahead.
  • Visit the Medical Camp in Leh Market for an essential health check-up, as certification is mandatory for Chadar Trek participants.
  • At the ALTOA-designated camp, secure your clearance certificate, confirming that you are fit and properly acclimatized for the trek.
  • This health check ensures your safety and readiness for the challenging adventure ahead.
  • After the check-up, return to your accommodation for a restful overnight stay, preparing for the exciting journey that awaits.

Day 04: Day of Trekking to Raar

  • Enjoy a delicious breakfast before beginning your journey to Raar in the beautiful Zanskar Valley.
  • Set off on an exhilarating 1.5 km trek over the mesmerizing frozen Chadar, experiencing the surreal beauty of the icy landscape.
  • Reach Raar by the afternoon, where a satisfying lunch awaits you at your cozy campsite.
  • Spend the afternoon soaking in the serene surroundings of the valley, unwinding from the trek.
  • As night falls, savor a hearty dinner and relax under the starry sky, preparing for the adventures that lie ahead.

Day 05: Trek to Dib Cave/Tibb

  • Start your day with a nourishing breakfast to energize you for the Chadar Trek.
  • Begin your trek to Dib Cave/Tibb, marveling at the breathtaking ravines and gorges along the way.
  • Appreciate the dramatic landscape, where steep cliffs may obscure some sunlight but enhance the beauty of your surroundings.
  • Take a moment to enjoy a packed lunch amid the stunning scenery, soaking in the serene atmosphere.
  • Arrive at Dib Cave, your campsite for the night, and indulge in some local butter tea.

Day 06: Dib Cave/Tibb Camp to Naerak Frozen Waterfall

  • Start your day with a wholesome breakfast to energize for the trek.
  • Discover the stunning frozen waterfall and vibrant prayer flags, plus the summer bridge connecting Zanskar to Leh.
  • Enjoy a packed lunch amidst the beautiful landscape before continuing to Naerak.
  • Interact with locals in Naerak and learn about their traditional lifestyle.
  • End your day with a delightful dinner at the village camp, then relax for the night, preparing for more adventures.

Day 07: Return from Naerak Waterfall and Back to Leh

  • Start your day with a substantial breakfast to fuel your return trek on the Chadar Trek.
  • Begin the trek back from Naerak Waterfall to Tibb, keeping in mind that the frozen river may have changed due to temperature fluctuations.
  • Take time to admire the breathtaking views, capture memorable photos, and engage with locals in their traditional woolen Gonchas (robes).
  • Pause for a packed lunch amidst the picturesque landscape during your trek.
  • Once you reach Tibb, take a moment to unwind before continuing your journey back to Leh.
  • Arrive in Leh by evening, enjoy a warm dinner, and settle into your hotel for a restful overnight stay.

Day 08: Departure from Leh

  • After breakfast, check out from the hotel and take a moment to reflect on the unforgettable experiences and sense of achievement from your Chadar Trek.
  • Carry with you a heart full of treasured memories and an enriched spirit from your remarkable adventure.
  • Head to Leh airport, marking the end of your enchanting Chadar Trek journey through one of India’s most stunning destinations.

Other Information

  • Stay at a hotel in Leh on Days 1, 2, 3, and 7, while camping during the trek on Days 4, 5, and 6 as outlined in the itinerary.
  • Meals while on Chadar trek (Veg.) – Hot Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner starting from Day 4 to Day 7 and “Only Breakfast” from Day 1 to Day 3.
  • Use high-quality gear, including double-layer Siachen sleeping bags, sleeping mats, 4-season tents, and a mobile kitchen with utensils.
  • Access first aid supplies, medical kits, an oximeter, and an oxygen cylinder to ensure your safety throughout the trek.
  • Benefit from the support of a qualified trek leader, guide, and dedicated staff during your journey.
  • Enjoy arranged transportation from the Leh hotel to the Trek Base Camp on Day 4 and back on Day 7.
  • Porters will manage all common luggage, including tents and kitchen supplies, allowing you to focus on enjoying your Chadar Trek experience.
  • Tentative permits (LAHDC, ALTOA, adventure insurance, wildlife fee, environmental fee, and medical fees) are estimated to total around Rs. 10,000, subject to government regulations. These fees must be paid directly to the Ladakh government based on actual charges.
  • Any personal expenses incurred during the trek are not included.
  • A medical check-up may be required at the Tourist Information Center (TIC) or as advised by the ALTOA association.
  • Porters are available to carry personal luggage, but this may incur additional charges.
  • Charges related to emergency evacuation, hospitalization, and similar needs are not included.
  • Any costs not specifically listed under inclusions will be the responsibility of the participant.
  • Pick-up and drop-off from Leh airport are not included in the package.
  • Standard check-in is at 12 noon, with early check-in available based on room availability.
  • A minimum of 6 trekkers is required to operate a group; we reserve the right to cancel if this number is not met.
  • Any extra costs arising from adverse weather or uncontrollable circumstances will be charged separately, and neither International Youth Club nor our partners will be liable.
  • We are not responsible for changes in the itinerary due to flight or train delays, cancellations, political unrest, or natural events.
  • If the Chadar Trek is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., bad weather or government restrictions), no refunds will be issued. Participants who leave the tour early must arrange their own transportation and accommodation, with no refund available.
  • Trekkers who do not pass the medical exam will not receive a refund and must arrange their own accommodation in Leh.
  • If additional accommodation is needed due to medical unfitness, a charge of Rs. 5,500 for a 3-day stay will apply. Monastery tours or local sightseeing may be offered as part of recovery.
  • It is mandatory to carry valid ID proof. Guests are responsible for their own luggage, as we are not liable for lost or damaged items.
  • Bring a small daypack for valuables; any damage caused by a guest during the trek will be their responsibility.
  • Foreign participants must pay separately for ALTOA permits.
  • While a basic first aid kit is provided, participants should bring their own personal medications.
  • The trek leader is responsible for group safety; participants must follow their instructions to ensure a successful experience.
  • Note that there will be no network connectivity on the trek; inform family and friends about the lack of communication during the journey.
  • Tent accommodations will be basic, focusing on safety and survival rather than comfort. Campsites will have minimal amenities, including basic toilet tents and no showers. Water will be sourced from the river and treated appropriately.
  • Participants need to be self-sufficient and equipped for harsh conditions. Following the guide’s instructions and using proper gear is essential.
  • Remember, this is an adventure trek, not a vacation; come prepared to embrace challenges and connect with nature in a unique way.

  • Once you paid the 100% amount for your booking, you will get an invoice containing all the information about the trip.
  • Booking amount 3,000/- (Non Refundable and Non Adjustable)
  • 40 Days before the trip departure 60% of the total cost.
  • 15 Days before the trip departure 100% of the total cost.

Important:

The booking stands liable to be canceled if 100% payment is not received less than 15 days before the Date of Travel. The received amount will be forfeited.

  • Cancellations are made before 35 to 15 days from the date of travel then 50% of the total trip will be charged.
  • Cancellations are made between 0 to 15 days from the date of travel then 100% of the total trip will be charged.
  • Before 15 Days from the Date of Travel - One-time Complementary.
  • Within 15 Days from the Date of Travel - The cost of rescheduling needs to be paid by the guest subject to amendment charges from hotels and transporters.
  • Refund amount will be processed within 2 weeks of business days.
  • All applicable refunds will be done in the traveller’s Bank Transfer only.
